Salkil's lucky his internet girlfriend wasn't actually a 45 year old obese woman: a review of the documentary "Catfish" by Sam Hayes

Catfish is a Documentary which spawned the television series of the same name. The TV series is about people who get in online relationships and find that their boyfriend/girlfriend isn't actually who they say they are, and then meet them in real life, so naturally, the documentary is about the same topic. Although some speculate that both the TV series and original documentary are staged, I simply watched it with the belief that the film makers were telling the truth.
Nev is a photographer who takes pictures for a local newspaper. Upon getting fan-mail from a girl named Abby, who apparently paints very well, he starts a friendship with Abby and her family, thinking that this is truly a little girl who loves his pictures and enjoys recreating them. He then starts talking to her whole family and finds that they are all wonderful people, especially Megan, the hot half-sister who is just about Nev's age. As they develop their relationship, Nev realizes there are some inconsistencies in the conversation and that some of the songs "Megan" has recorded for him are just audio ripped off of youtube.
Finally when Nev is near Megan's house doing a shoot for a dance competition he goes over to say hi to the person he's assuming is fake. The rest is good stuff that's worth seeing. The actual person, a 40 ish looking, obese, married woman is the person he's been talking to, and how she squirms is pretty good as all of her lies unravel.
All in all, i'd say it was one of the more entertaining "documentaries" i've seen, although I could see why some people might see it as fake. All in all i give it a 3.5 fake women out of 5 since it is entertaining, yet possibly fake.
