Kickass 2 review
Kick-Ass is
phenomenal. The sequel Kick-Ass 2, not so much, actually not even
close.
Writer/director
Jeff Wadow gives Chloe Grace Moretz's Hit-Girl a predicament. She makes a
promise to never be a super hero again and tries to connect with her school's
most popular girls. It is basically a disaster as we expect. Hit-Girl doesn't
care much about high school like most teenage girls and by the time we get to
what made her character so interesting in the first film, it's too late.
Aaron
Taylor-Johnson's charcter Kick-Ass has connected with other costumed characters
wanting to make the world better. It's OK as a side-plot but doesn't have
enough weight to carry the bulk of the movie, in. Christopher Mintz-Plasse's
(better known as McLovin in Superbad) Red Mist is now the villain
Motherf%&$%#, yes that’s his name. He has put together a gang of costumed
thugs and is determined to kill Kick-Ass for killing his criminal father in the
first movie.
My favorite
part of the movie is Jim Carrey’s character, hero Colonel Stars and Stripes.
Carrey carries the middle part of the film, but his character departs far too
quickly, and what little fun Kick-Ass 2 gives us exits with
him.
What
made Kick-Ass so fun was the attachment of fun. Kick-Ass
2 and its excellent actors try, but the fresh, edgy humor of the
original is gone. Kick Ass is an action/comedy with more comedy than action and
has a good feeling to it, especially after watching it. Kick Ass 2 is also and
action/comedy, but the fact that they made a sequel is a joke. The sequel
causes the viewer to actually feel emotions other than joy (lets face it, if you go to see a comedy you do not want to feel sorrow). The worst part of
the movie is the ending where Jeff Wadow leaves the viewer with hope for
another Kick Ass movie. I think it would be best if they would just not. The only reason I would tell someone to go watch this movie is to see Jim Carrey's terrific acting.
2/5 stars

Good review, Trevor. Definitely not gonna go waste my time on this now.
I can respect what you're saying and I do see a lot of validity, but I honestly still thought the movie was awesome! Good review though. Also I'm calling it; Chloe grace Moretz the next female superstar.
