Rise of the Guardians
If I were a kid I would probably
really love this movie. I mean I still like it, but not really that much. This
movie is about the evil vs. good. The good sides are the Santa Claus, Tooth
Fairy, Easter Bunny, Sandman and who finally become the last guardian—Jack
Frost; And their goal is to stop Pitch Black from giving nightmares to children
also they have to fight back to make children believe that the guardians are
real, otherwise they could not be seen by the children.
So, Pitch Black knows that Jack
Frost could not seen by children and this makes him wants to pull Jack to his
side. But, Jack refuses. And he ends up saving the other guardians from being
unseen by the children. Also the children could see him at last.
This is also a movie about
individual battle against a society. When everyone in the group is tight
together, they have the power to destroy the individual; especially the
individual is the evil side. And Pitch Black wants people to fear them because he
once used to be the guy that is fearful to everyone. But, after the guardians
rise, no body believes in him anymore. So, he wants his revenge and to show
those guardians that it is his time now and he wants to destroy the guardians
by taking away children’s hope in them.
On the other hand, this could be
an example of “coming of age story”. Because when kids grow up, no one will
believe in Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy or Easter Bunny anymore. Just like me, I do
not think Santa Claus is real anymore. So, when children are still young, the
light on the map shows audience that they are still naïve. And one day when
they grow up, all those things that they once believed in will be abandoned.
But, I think the part that Jack Frost gets
his memory’s part could be more difficult or intense or maybe they could make
Jack once to join Pitch Black or something like that. I think he get his
memories back to easy.
So overall, 3.5/5
