Edward Scissorhands

Edward Scissorhands ( Human vs. Society/ Human vs. Himself)
Directed by Tim Burton
Review by Aurora, Wang Yi
When the people get older and older, they start to lose something for gain. They become normal in the society. Edward is different, though he cannot change his special and live in the community.
I remember the first time he come to the town. Nobody understands him. Maybe they just use their own sense to understand him. People think he is a monster or a genius. However, they are wrong. Edward is just a pure soul. He does not know the relationship between people, emotion of people and the right way to love and take care of others. This is his love, always hurt. That is all. So what? He has not got the base to love and future to live. So he cannot say “I love you, too.” “ I can’t” and “Goodbye” are the only words. This is the reality.
On the interview, one audience asked, “If you had regular hands, you would be like anyone else.” Peggy answered, “No matter what, Edward will always be special.” I think it is not. Edward is special because his cannot give his scissorhands away. During growing up time, we always give up a lot of things such as perseverance, dream and “scissorhands”. Then we cannot cut these nice shapes. No scissorhands, no Edward. So Edward answered, “ Yes, I know”
At the end, Kim said, “I would rather he remember me the way I was.” So what we need remember?

I watched this movie too! I like how you mentioned Peg's response as "No matter what, Edward will always be special"; however, I think this is true. Everyone is special in their own sort of way and I don't think he has to keep his scissor hands to stay special.
