Full Metal Jacket

Full Metal Jacket
I was really excited to watch this movie because I absolutely love war movies. Going into watching this movie I was expecting something like Saving Private Ryan or something with a lot of fighting and combat and violence. I was expecting a real War Movie with the scenes focused on war combat. I was hoping to get to see the brutality and violence of the Vietnam War and I was excited because most war movie I had seen were from World War 1 or 2 and I hadn’t seen a Vietnam War movie yet. I was surprised though when I found out how deep it goes into the aspect of boot camp and the war.

In this film you really see how the Privates change from boot camp and from war. They start as regular civilians with regular outlooks on reality and the world and they change into a more instinctual kind of a being. It is almost as if they really lose certain qualities of human beings and gain qualities of animals. It is almost a sense of de-evolution in that they focus much more on instincts and survival tactics. I found this film very entertaining to watch but it is not my favorite war movie. I liked how they showed the boot camp and everything but I think they showed too much of it.I still however would give it a good rating because it was very well done and the acting was spot on.
Rating 4/5
