The Dark Knight

This is a fantastic movie. Although this was not my first viewing, it is the kind of movie that one can watch over and over again. There are so many elements and themes that go into this movie. One particular aspect about this movie I love is the use of the Joker's dark humor. I mean, the scene where he blows up the hospital shows this alone. He fiddles with the detonator for a few seconds, hitting it with his hand, then it explodes. After some research, I discovered that this scene was (allegedly) improvised by Keith Ledger. We see the contrast of a man who takes life and death as one big joke and a man who takes life and death as a personal responsibility.
People would say that Batman is the main focus of this movie, but I would argue that the Joker steals the show. His stories of how he got his scars show more insight to his character than Batman. All that changes with the addition of Harvey Dent. Harvey goes from the top of the world to being a tortured and angry soul. Once Batman was tricked to choose Dent rather than the girl, he is Harvey gets half of his face burnt off. With his one true love dead and a major injury, Dent falls. This shows the transformation from good to evil, the classic fall of man.
This was a great movie, with romance, action, comedy, and drama. 4.44 out of 5.
